Compliance — Smart Security Group Ltd
Standards & Accreditation

Compliance

Compliance is not an afterthought at SSG — it is the foundation on which every project is built.

Third-party verification.

Our accreditations are independently assessed and maintained annually.

Health & Safety
SafeContractor

SSG holds active SafeContractor membership — an independently assessed health and safety accreditation scheme used as a pre-qualification standard by many principal contractors. Membership confirms that SSG's policies, procedures and documentation meet the requirements of principal contractors working under CDM regulations.

Engineer Cards

ECS & CSCS

All SSG engineers hold a current Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) or Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card appropriate to their trade and grade. Card details are held on file and can be provided to main contractors on request. We do not deploy uncarded engineers to commercial sites.

Insurance

£5,000,000 Public Liability

SSG carries £5,000,000 public liability insurance through Chaucer AIS, Policy Reference BLW007759/10/24. A copy of the certificate of insurance is available on request for main contractor pre-qualification and procurement processes.

British Standards we work to.

Every system we install is delivered to the relevant published British Standard.

BS EN 50131 Alarm systems — intruder and hold-up alarm systems. Governs the design, installation and grading of intruder detection systems on commercial premises.
BS EN 62676 Video surveillance systems for use in security applications. Covers IP and analogue CCTV system design, installation and commissioning.
BS EN 60839 Alarm and electronic security systems. Covers access control systems including door controllers, readers and locking hardware.
BS 5839 Fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings. Part 1 governs system design, installation and commissioning. Relevant to all fire alarm interface works.
BS 7671 Requirements for electrical installations (IET Wiring Regulations, 18th Edition). Applicable to all electrical installation work carried out by SSG engineers.

Golden Thread compliance.

The Building Safety Act 2022 introduced the "Golden Thread" concept — a requirement that accurate, structured information about a building is created, maintained and passed on throughout the building lifecycle. For higher-risk buildings, this is a legal obligation.

SSG engineers produce commissioning and handover documentation structured to support the Golden Thread — including as-installed drawings, commissioning records, equipment schedules, certificate records and O&M manual contributions.

We work with main contractors and principal designers to ensure our documentation integrates with the wider project handover package and meets the record-keeping requirements of the Act.

Risk Assessments & Method Statements

A site-specific Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS) is produced for every project before SSG engineers commence work. RAMS are reviewed and approved by the main contractor's site management team before work begins.

RAMS cover: scope of work, hazard identification, control measures, PPE requirements, emergency procedures, and workforce competency confirmation. They are available for audit at any time.

Policies held and maintained.

All SSG policies are reviewed annually and available to main contractors on request.
